Mrs. Shotwell and Mrs. Peters' Geography Bee had 32 participants in grades 4 - 8 this year. The Bee practice started at the end of October. They reviewed a different continent each week. The semi-finals were on November 28. The final was on December 5th. The second runner up was sixth grader Ava H. First runner up was fifth grader Isabella E. Eighth grader Josh M. was the winner. Josh will take an online test in January to see if he qualifies for the State Bee which is held in the Spring.

The 6th Grade Spanish class visited with the 2nd Graders to teach them a little Spanish. The 6th Graders have been learning greetings in Spanish and the 2nd Graders are learning about Mexico in their Social Studies class. The 6th Graders introduced themselves by their Spanish names and taught the younger students how to say Hello, Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening, and Goodbye. Before they left, they sang a Spanish song.

With the help from our St. John's Student Council, St. Nicholas made a visit to all the classrooms on Tuesday morning. Mrs. Borgman's Kindergarten class was so excited to feel how heavy the class stocking was and even more excited to find candy canes for all the students inside!

The Museum Center visited the 2nd Grade class for their program "Many Cultures, One World". The students traveled around the world without even leaving the school! They told a story with musical instruments in Peru, hosted a tribal Naming Ceremony in Kenya, marched in a Chinese New Year Parade, and learned about Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) in Mexico. It was a fun time had by all!
